Why write poems?
Oh man! Oh man! If you seriously ask that, I don't know how to answer. It probably means you've never been moved by William Carlos Williams, or Robert Graves, or Robert Creeley, or Gary Snyder, or e.e. cummings. Oh my! I read them and others, and couldn't help but emulate and maybe compete.
