Denver - Golden

We moved to the Denver area but settled in Golden, CO. It was a beautiful little town, the home of the Coors brewery. Lore had it that during the gold rush in Colorado, Golden had been the state capital. It had a university, the Colorado School of Mines, that trained mining engineers, still a viable profession in Colorado. It was such a hilly little town that no street in it ran level.

We lived at the top of one of the hills in a house big enough for a family of five, which we were. It was a perfect place for Zen meditations at night after the kids slept. It was the pefect place to wonder what the hell am I doing with my life?

And it provided a wonderful motorcycle ride to where my employer, Martin-Marietta Aerospace, had a campus of its own on the outskirts of Denver. I think it was an exhilarating forty-minute ride!

So much happened in Denver and in Golden. Oh and near Nederland, where my friend had built a cabin. Well a two-story cabin. Don't misunderstand, he didn't have it built, he built it. While working a full-time job. He was something of a genius and a very determined man.

At work, I met and fell in love with a very special young woman. Sigh, I was married and had three kids. What the hell was I doing with my life? Convoluting it certainly.

At work we planned missions and evaluated missions and bid on NASA contracts. Oh! We won one! Half of us moved to Los Angeles, or half-moved. I followed six months later.
